Sheffield continued their fine start to the 2015 season as they stormed to a 56-37 win over Plymouth in their Premier League opener at Owlerton.
The Window Centre Tigers put in another impressive all-around team display to get their first three points on the board and make it four wins out of four in all competitions.
Jack Lee’s side raced into an early advantage with Ty Proctor blasting past Kyle Newman to join Ashley Birks at the front for a heat three 5-1.
When Andre Compton spectacularly rounded Morten Risager to repeat the trick with Simon Stead in heat six the Tigers had an eight point lead – although Plymouth youngster Jack Holder brilliantly prevailed over Compton and Arthur Sissis in a breathtaking heat eight as he took the Devils’ tactical ride.
Despite the visitors briefly threatening to launch a comeback, the hosts quickly recaptured full control as Birks and Sissis combined in heat 12 to wrap up victory heading into the interval.
Whilst skipper Stead continued his Owlerton dominance from the No.1 spot with another faultless maximum, he received tremendous support from fellow heat-leaders Birks and Bellego.
Veteran racer Compton also continued his resurgence as himself and Ty Proctor both put in solid displays.
With all-action youngster Josh Bates and ever-improving Aussie ace Sissis amongst the points at reserve, the Tigers had too much quality for their opponents and thoroughly deserved their resounding win.
Sheffield will be back in action with arguably their toughest test of the season so far as they travel to Newcastle looking to continue their winning run in the League Cup on Sunday before welcoming the Diamonds to Owlerton next Thursday (7.30).
