Sheffield skipper Simon Stead has urged his teammates to step up to the plate as they cover the absence of Richard Hall against Redcar at Owlerton tonight (7.45).
Hall’s dislocated shoulder means missing around two weeks and Sheffield will use the rider replacement facility for his rides.
That means all six members of the Tigers side are eligible to take an extra ride, and Stead admits that adds pressure to the other members of the top five..
“It means we’ve all got to step up to make sure we don’t miss him too much or we’re in trouble otherwise.” said Stead. “You can’t afford to carry people when you’ve got rider replacement.
“We can’t afford to slip up at home; if you want to be at the top of the league you have to get maximum points from your home matches.”
Hugh Skidmore, who spent three years at Owlerton until this winter, returns with Redcar who have started poorly. Experienced Dane Ulrich Ostergaard leads them.
