SHEFFIELD will do battle with Redcar tonight without a full squad as they await confirmation of a new signing.

The Tigers take on the Bears at Owlerton (7.45pm) and will again operate with a guest at reserve due to the injury to Klaus Jakobsen.

Tigers chiefs have lined up a replacement for the Dane but the new face will not be in place for tonight’s meeting, although he may line up in the return fixture at Redcar tomorrow.

Owner Neil Machin said: “Klaus Jakobsen has not fully recovered from his shoulder injury despite extensive treatment here and in Denmark and the guest replacements we have used have not yielded the points we need.

“The team has been left exposed and we have therefore been forced to look for a suitable replacement in order for our solid reserve pairing strategy to be maintained. As we go to press we are not in a position to announce the new team member.”

The Tigers’ best results of the season came against Redcar earlier in the season when they won at home and grabbed an unlikely away draw, but Machin knows that his side have to be on their mettle.

“The Redcar side is strong all the way through and they always bring a strong away following,” said Machin. “There is no room for error and we have to be on our guard or they will take full advantage. As always, we welcome Brian Havelock and his side and I am sure that we will see a cracking meeting.”

Under-12s now go free at Owlerton, regardless of whether they are with a full paying adult.

SHEFFIELD: Pepe Franc, Hugh Skidmore, Ricky Wells, Richard Hall, Emiliano Sanchez, Joe Haines, Jan Graversen.
