SHEFFIELD have held more talks with Californian star Ricky Wells over the weekend and are expected to make a decision soon.

Wells is wanted back at Owlerton after a promising second half to last season but, until now, the club and rider have been unable to agree terms.

Tigers chief David Hoggart last week revealed how the club have two other riders wanting the only place remaining in the Tigers team if Wells ends talks without a new deal.

But Hoggart, who has also been busy on management committee business in his role with the British Speedway Promoters’ Association, confirmed more communication with Wells.

He said: “We’ve been in touch once again but until a final conclusion is reached one way or the other I really don’t want to be drawn into saying much more.

“ I’d love to have Ricky back as we have a great relationship and he’s got a lot of promise.

“We just need to put the final piece in the jigsaw together. The matter must reach a conclusion shortly because of the other riders involved.”

Wells, who represented USA at last year’s World Cup, will also race with Wolves in the Elite League this year.
