SHEFFIELD grabbed their first away point of the season as they again showed great spirit in their 48-42 loss at Redcar.

The Tigers were missing Australian hotshot Hugh Skidmore after he crashed out on Thursday, suffering muscle damage to his leg, and they had to operate the rider replacement facility at number two while Jason Garrity guested for Klaus Jakobsen.

Sheffield were always on the back foot after conceding four heat advantages in the first five heats. The result went down to the last race and the Tigers were handed a point when home rider Aaron Summers got excluded for knocking off Richard Hall but they just failed to pull off the win last night.

Josef Franc put Thursday’s below-par display behind him with 11 points and was ably backed up by ex-Redcar rider Joe Haines, who registered paid 10. The consistent Hall claimed eight plus two.
