RICHARD Hall was the Sheffield hero as he won a last heat decider to clinch a draw for Sheffield Tigers at Redcar last night.
Hall had to win the race as partner Hugh Skidmore was excluded and the captain did just that, beating Ulrich Ostergaard and Aaron Summers to seal the draw in Teeside.
The Tigers started in brilliant fashion and catapulted themselves into a six-point lead early on, with both Pepe Franc and Ricky Wells winning their first heats to give away fans reason to be optimistic.
The Bears soon hit back, though, until a 5-1 in heat eight for Sheffield propelled them back in to a two-point advantage.
Weather conditions were less than ideal and that forced a break in proceedings, and the home side clearly regrouped as two quick 5-1’s put them in control.
The Tigers hit back spectacularly and it was Hall who inspired his side, first winning heat 14 and then doing the same in the last race.
Pepe Franc, Hugh Skidmore and Ricky Wells all won vital races for the Tigers to contribute to an impressive result.
