TWO Sheffield motorsport teams will link up on Thursday as Superbike team GR Motorsport head to Owlerton to watch the Sheffield Tigers in action.
GR Motorsport Ltd - owned by ex-Superstock Champion Brent Gladwin - are based in the city and are one of the biggest success stories of the Superbike series.
They are the official Aprilia factory team in the British Superbikes Stock 1000 category and also support riders in the Motostar GP 125cc category, with one of their own youngsters vying for that title.
They have linked up with the city’s speedway team and will be in attendance on Thursday as the Tigers take on Plymouth at Owlerton.
Sheffield-based team owner Gladwin said; “We love coming down to Sheffield speedway every now and again. Just like the British Superbike series it is a fantastic friendly family atmosphere and somewhere we enjoy bringing our VIP guests..
“The feedback we receive is always 100 per cent and it is so important to all forms of motorcycle sport that our sponsors enjoy themselves, and our team is no different. It is a great night out at Sheffield and we are looking forward to attending before we leave for our next race, which is at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday.”
Tigers boss Neil Machin is also pleased that two of the city’s premier motorsport teams are linking up.
He said: “It’s great for the city that we have a team in the Superbike Series doing so well and we are delighted that Brent and his team accepted our invitation to come to the track on Thursday and take in our meeting with Plymouth.
“We are always looking to find new links within the city and it’s fantastic that we have a relationship with a team who are ever-growing, I’m sure we will hear a lot more about GR Motorsport in the future.”
