Some of the greatest riders ever to race for Sheffield will be back together at a special event to launch a new era next month.

Tigers are hosting a legends night to help raise funds for the installation of a new air barrier at Owlerton on Wednesday, March 5.

A host of star names are already confirmed including hugely popular 70s duo Reg Wilson and Doug Wyer, Premier League title winning stars Sean Wilson, Simon Stead and Andre Compton and 90s stars Peter Carr and Chris Morton.

A bumper turnout is expected in the Panorama Room for what promises to be an entertaining night.

Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: “We are delighted to be hosting a night like this, so soon to the start of the new season too.

“The response from the legends has been superb, they are all keen to support the new consortium taking over the club to put the finances in place for an air barrier. It’s an opportunity for supporters to come along and hear interviews with some of the greatest names associated with the club.

“It’s also a nice way for us to build up to the new season because a couple of weeks later will be our press and practice night and everyone will be in the mood.

“Reg and Doug were household names who regularly appeared on terrestrial TV throughout the 70s and are well known to a certain generation throughout the city of Sheffield.

“Sean Wilson’s contribution to the club late in his career was magnificent and it will be nice to see him back at the club for the evening.

“I’m sure there will be a big turnout for what should be a night of fascinating stories, opinions and some fun along the way.”

Admission will be £5 on the door and doors will open at 7pm with the event starting at 8.
