TIGERS boss David Hoggart claims Sheffield’s 21-point victory over Leicester on Thursday was their best result of the season at Owlerton.
The Tigers ran riot against a Leicester side positioned in second in the Premier League table, and who dispatched Sheffield with ease earlier in the season.
The city side were rampant, and team boss Hoggart admits it was possibly the highlight of the season at home.
He said: “There have been performances and results that have been harder to earn, and may have felt like the best at the time because of the way we won them. The one that sticks out of course is the Somerset meeting, where we won a last heat decider.
“Thursday’s meeting though was a marvellous performance, probably the best overall team performance we’ve had this year. We were obviously without Emiliano (Sanchez) but all six riders were magnificent, they worked so hard and they got their reward. Leicester are a very solid side; you don’t get to second in the league if you aren’t, but we knew that they didn’t fancy it when we started so well. I told the boys to scare them early and they did it, and from then they were just outstanding.
“In terms of context and result, it was as good as we’ve had all year.”
The Tigers co-team manager has also praised Danish youngster Lasse Bjerre, who scored a flawless 18 point maximum at Owlerton for Leicester.
He said: “Bjerre was absolutely brilliant, and is the best visitor we’ve had at Owlerton.”
