TIGERS boss David Hoggart is urging fans to turn out in force to support two major events at Owlerton this month.
The club have been selected to host the British Under 19 Final on Thursday, September 13, with the cream of the nation’s youngsters doing battle for the national title.
And they are once again staging the showpiece Premier League Riders’ Championship, which pulls in thousands of fans from throughout the country on Sunday, September 23.
It means the Owlerton club have a bumper month of action and Hoggart wants to see a big turnout on the terraces.
He said: “We are delighted to be hosting two prestigious events and next Thursday’s Under 19 Final will be a great night of entertainment.
“We’re extremely honoured to be staging both meetings and I sincerely hope our public turn out to support them.
“With my BSPA (British Speedway Promoters’ Association) hat on I can say we take a lot of unnecessary flak about the lack of investment in the youth system in this country.
“We are not helped by a lack of facilities but we have Phil Morris and Neil Vatcher doing a fantastic job working with the kids and there are some talented youngsters coming through at the age of 12 and 13. Thursday’s meeting will showcase the best young talent and we know we will get total commitment and entertainment from every rider.”
Former Sheffield mascot James Sarjeant is included in the field. Josef Franc will represent the Tigers in the PLRC which features the top rider from every club in the league.
