SHEFFIELD co-team manager David Hoggart has expressed his delight at the way his side have turned their form round this year.
The city side suffered a difficult start to the campaign and were maligned by critics before a wheel was turned. They were beaten at home by Workington in March and many predicted a long, hard season.
Their recent run of form, though, has been outstanding and they are unbeaten at home since that day, as well as picking up a brilliant win at local rivals Scunthorpe on Bank Holiday Monday.
And Hoggart is thrilled at how his team have hit back; “We’ve recovered well and I’m proud of the boys for that.
“It wasn’t like we specifically said to the boys that we are going to go out and climb the table but the aim was to entertain our public at home and not lose again on our own circuit. Our fans want to see good racing and a Sheffield win and we have been delivering that over the past couple of months.
“You only had to be at the Somerset meeting to see the spirit within the team. The attitude that they had developed for that meeting was second to none, they do not know when they are beaten. This team is desperate for success and they work together.
“The team spirit the boys have created has to help.”
Hoggart has also praised his in form reserve pairing of Emiliano Sanchez and Joe Haines: “It was great to see the two reserves firing again against Berwick on Thursday. Joe Haines thoroughly deserved his place in heat 15 because he seized his opportunities and looked very fast in front.
“Emiliano is going places now and we are absolutely delighted he has found his form. There couldn’t be a more popular man in the side and everyone is happy for him.”
