SHEFFIELD Tigers came crashing down to earth with a bump last night as they were taken apart by league leaders Somerset.
Team boss David Hoggart had warned that his side will either “win or get murdered” and unfortunately it was the latter that proved to be true, the Tigers succumbing to their heaviest defeat of the season.
It was a bad way to end their Premier League campaign but the last two night’s have perhaps summed up Sheffield’s season. On Thursday, they became only the second team to take maximum points from favourites Newcastle and then followed that with a terrible display at a track where they normally perform well.
Hugh Skidmore was the pick of the Sheffield bunch at Somerset as he notched a hard-earned nine points, while Joe Haines cannot be faulted for picking up seven.
n TIGERS scorers: Skidmore 9, Haines 7, Hall 5, Wells 4+1, Franc 3, Schramm 0, Rider Replacement for Emiliano Sanchez.
