Slimline Ashworth aims for professional approach

RICKY Ashworth will be more professional than ever before when he lines up for Sheffield next season.

Ashworth has revealed a new-look with fresh sponsor logos on his machine livery - and he'll be placing more emphasis on workshop habits than at any other time during his career.

He's also been on a fitness drive and has a new slimline appearance as he prepares to lead the Owlerton side into the new campaign on March 18.

Said Ashworth: "I mean business this season on three fronts - for Sheffield, for Belle Vue in the Elite League and for myself.

"I'm bursting with enthusiasm and I've got some new sponsorship which will help me on my way. It will help me with my machinery because I know how important it is to have good machinery.

"I'm going to be pretty busy and I'll be spending more time in the workshop, although I will say I have always taken pride in my machinery.

"It's a big season for me because it's possibly my last chance to shine in the Elite League and that's a big challenge.

"I like the Sheffield team, it's an exciting time for the club and I think the addition of Pepe Franc is a masterstroke.

"And I've also got to thank the likes of Ian Hunter at Sheffield Window Centre for making things happen and the supporters organisation STAARS who support the lads."

Eric Boocock is backing Ashworth and Josh Auty for a successful season in both the top two divisions.

The Tigers team boss believes the Sheffield pair will benefit from regular appearances in the Elite League.

Auty will ride for Sheffield but will also appear in the top flight at Coventry.

Said Boocock: "It can only be a good thing for both lads."
