SIMON Stead will use his experience of working with the very best in his captaincy role with Sheffield this season.
Stead, who will take to the track with the Tigers team at press day next Thursday, has raced under some top skippers hroughout his career. Now he aims to put into practice what he’s learned.
He’s ready to help the younger riders like Jake Knight, Damien Koppe and Facundo Albin.
“I’ve had a lot of inspirational captains at different teams over the years” he said. “Last time I was at Sheffield I had Sean Wilson as captain; he was a massive inspiration. Since then I’ve had people like Armando Castagna, Jason Crump and Leigh Adams as captains as well.
“So I’ve learned from the best, and I’ll be looking to give my all to Sheffield as No.1 and captain.
“It’s going to be an interesting season for us. It will be good to see the boys have a run out at press day to see how the new guys get on. I’ve got full confidence in the management; they wouldn’t bring these guys in if they didn’t think they could do the job.”
