Sheffield star Lasse Bjerre says beating Grand Prix ace Jason Doyle will help him get in the big points at home to Berwick tomorrow.
The 23-year-old guested for Leicester in the SGB Premiership over the weekend and starred in their 48-42 win over Swindon, scoring 11 points.
And after being disappointed with his 3+1 contribution in Sheffield’s impressive victory over Somerset last Thursday, Bjerre is targeting double figures at Owlerton this week in their SGB Championship opener.
Said Bjerre: “I wasn’t too happy with my own score last week but it was my first home meeting of the season and it can only get better!
“It was a shame I didn’t find a decent set-up until late in the meeting but hopefully the track will be similar, then I’ll know what to run on the bike.
“To race in front of so many people was amazing though and I just hope at least half of them come back this week for the meeting against Berwick.
“At the start of the season it takes you a couple of meetings to get back into it properly but I’m nearly there now.
“Damien Bates also helps run Leicester and it was good for him to be able to give me an extra meeting there at the weekend.
“I never expected to score the points that I did and just one meeting like that can do so much for your confidence.
“I was up against Grand Prix riders like Jason Doyle and to go out and beat a rider who nearly won the World title last year was great.”
“Now that the early door stuff is out of the way, I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.
“It’s our first home league meeting against Berwick on Thursday and we want to tell the rest of the league that we mean business!”
