Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates is expecting their clash with Glasgow at Owlerton tonight to be one of the meetings of the season.

The Tigers have been forced to wait three weeks to get back on home shale after their clash with Rye House was washed out a fortnight ago. But Bates is confident their clash with the Scots will be worth the wait.

Glasgow are fresh off the back of a record 71-19 win over Scunthorpe. Meanwhile, Sheffield have suffered a slump in form with three successive away defeats leaving them seeking their first Premier League points. “It’s been a tough few meetings for us, but I’m sure being back at Owlerton will give the boys a boost,” Bates said.

“Glasgow are going to be high on confidence, but our boys will be up for it and I think it has the potential to be one of the meetings of the season. Obviously the new promotion at Glasgow have put together a strong side, they have some really good riders in there and they should be strong at Sheffield as well.

“But we’ve got a strong side ourselves, we’ve been riding well at home and as long as everyone does their job then we should get the three points.

“We need everyone to perform well, I definitely don’t think we’ve seen the best of our team yet so hopefully everything clicks this week.

“We’ve seen glimpses of what we can do, but we need to get everyone firing at the same time and we’ll be hoping to do that against Glasgow.

“Whatever the result I’m sure we should get some good racing, so we are looking forward to an exciting meeting where we hopefully get the right result.”

Both sides head into the meeting at full strength, with flying Frenchman Dimitri Berge lining up against his former club for Sheffield.

Meanwhile, Glasgow include a powerful top four featuring British trio Richard Lawson, Richie Worrall and Ben Barker plus talented Australian Aaron Summers.

SHEFFIELD: Simon Stead, Dimitri Berge, Kyle Howarth, Josh Bates, Jason Garrity, Richard Hall, Nathan Greaves.

GLASGOW: Richard Lawson, Nike Lunna, Richie Worrall, Ben Barker, Aaron Summers, Fernando Garcia, Danny Ayres.
