After a sensational debut campaign with Birmingham, where he won three end-of -season awards, he is now keen to make his mark with the club he grew up watching.

“This really is a dream come true and for it to happen so early on in my career makes it even more special,” said Parkinson-Blackburn.

“I’ve been going to Sheffield since before I could walk and I’ve been going ever since almost every week.

“Me and my family have spent so much time at the stadium and growing up it was always just a dream of ours.

“To be named in their team is unbelievable and I don’t think there could be much more of a bigger boost for me so early on in my career.

“Even when I signed as a club asset earlier this year, I never took anything for granted.

“I knew there was still plenty of hard work to be done and I knew my form for Birmingham in the National League in the second half of the season was going to be really important.

“I just grew in confidence every meeting, I was consistently banging some big points in and in the end it must have been enough for the Sheffield promotion to give me a chance.

“I’ve already done one challenge meeting for them which was great, but I’m counting down to that first meeting of next season already.

“To roll up to the tapes at Owlerton in that Sheffield race jacket will be a very proud moment and it will be one me and my family will remember for the rest of our lives.

“Hopefully knowing so much about the club already can play into my hands and I can tell the fans now that the one thing they will always get from me every single meeting is 100 per cent effort and commitment to the team.”

“The management and everyone at Sheffield are just great people and that’s what makes me want to do even better than I already am focused on doing in my first season for the club.”
