The Tigers will clash with Somerset in a first leg at Owlerton tomorrow (7.30) before heading to the Oak Tree Arena 24 hours later.

Californian ace Wells will again guest for the injury-hit side along with experienced performer Stuart Robson, despite being due to jet back to the USA last week.

Bates is delighted to have the pair and has praised Wells for altering his travel plans to help bring title glory back to Sheffield.

Said Bates: “It’s what we’ve wanted all year and we’ve worked hard to get to the final, so we’re mega excited. We put together the team to get this far, and although we haven’t got our own team right now it’s been a big effort from everybody involved.

“Arthur Sissis, Kyle Howarth and Josh Bates have really raised the game for the play-offs, they’ve done a fantastic job and we hope they can carry it on. The guests we’ve had as well have been so committed. We’ve got Ricky Wells and Stuart Robson in again this week, and I’m sure they’ll do a great job.

“I would have liked to have our own team, of course, but we’re delighted with who we’ve got to replace them.

“Ricky Wells is an established Premier League No.1 and a top performer, so is Robbo.

“The pair of them have been fantastic for us in the earlier stages of the play-offs, and I couldn’t have asked for two better guests.

“Ricky was supposed to be out of the country but he spoke to me after the semi-finals and offered to change his flights so he could ride for us in the final.

“I’ve taken him up on his offer and he’s managed to delay them by a week, and I was really impressed with that commitment.

“It’s fantastic to have had him involved since Jason Garrity and Steady (Simon Stead) got injured, and I know he’ll give us his all again against Somerset.”
