A magnificent performance from Ricky Wells led Sheffield to their best away result of the season as they drew 45-45 against fellow strugglers Glasgow at Ashfield.
Californian ace Wells continued his flying form with a majestic display - leading the battling Tigers to a well-deserved draw.
And co-boss David Hoggart hailed his whole side for their determined efforts after enjoying little success on the road this season.
Hoggart said: “It was a great result and probably the fairest outcome as both sides rode very well.
“Everyone had to adjust to the track a little but we managed to do that pretty well, and it was a great effort by our boys.
“Ricky Wells and Richard Lawson were both excellent and it’s a good result for us away from home.”
Wells was involved in two 5-1s in his opening two outings as Sheffield pegged back Glasgow, before leading home a further heat advantage in heat ten to put his side on level terms.
Yet a string of four consecutive 3-3s followed with neither side able to take the initiative, setting up a nervy last heat decider.
With the pressure mounting, Wells and Richard Lawson were narrowly outdone by Aussie star Dakota North out of the start - but they did tuck in the minor placings to give Sheffield a share of the spoils. Although Wells was the star performer, Lawson again proved an excellent guest as he notched three race wins with a classy display.
Sheffield 45: Wells 15+1, Lawson 11+2, Albin 6+2, Compton 6, Summers 3, Lambert 2, Maassen r/r.
