Sheffield racer Andre Compton believes himself and skipper Simon Stead will have a big part to play for Tigers in 2015.
In what a young side, Compton and Stead will bring a wealth of Owlerton experience having both won the Premier League title with the club in early in their careers. They will be joined by several exciting talents as the Tigers look to end their wait of over a decade for a league title.
Compton is hoping himself and Stead can provide a strong backbone to help ease the pressure on some of the Tigers’ young guns. Said Compton: “We have got a fair few young riders, but at the same time we’ve got plenty of experience so there is a nice balance. Me and Steady obviously have a lot of experience, especially at Owlerton, so it’s going to be important for us to pass on that experience and help the rest where we can. Hopefully we can both manage to be consistent and add some stability. We know Steady is a real out and out No.1, and if he can perform as well as he did last year we just need the rest of the team to step up and support him.
“Some of the younger guys are obviously going to have off nights occasionally, but if the more experienced guys can score points week in week out it will certainly help take the pressure off them a bit.”
Sheffield have confirmed their press/practice day arrangements for Thursday (19th.) The riders will be on track from 5pm and will then go to the Panorama Room for interviews in front of supporters who can meet the team and have pictures and autographs.
