RICKY Wells faces one of his busiest week’s of the season this week, topped off with a trip to Las Vegas!
Sheffield’s American star raced at Wolverhampton yesterday, travels to Poole tomorrow and will ride for the Tigers on Thursday, before catching a 3am bus to Heathrow on Friday for a mid-season break.
Wells is heading to Las Vegas with some friends to celebrate his 21st birthday after a gap in fixtures presented him with a chance to have a holiday before the second half of the season gets under way.
He said: “It’s a pretty hectic week, but I’m just glad that I haven’t had any fixtures re-arranged for next week! With all the rain-off’s I was hoping that it would stay free and thankfully it has.
“I haven’t been back in America for my birthday for four years but it just fell right this year. Last year I went home during World Cup week but obviously we were in it this year so I couldn’t, but it’ll be cool to see some family.
“I’ve had a pretty busy year so it’s going to be good to have a bit of a break to re-charge my batteries.”
Wells has been Sheffield’s best performer in recent weeks after a slow start to his campaign, and he is glad that he is showing the Sheffield faithful what he is capable of.
He said: “It was a tough start for me but it’s come together and I’ve had some good scores in the last month, and finally some decent ones at home! It was always going to take a few meetings to get dialled in, but I’m happy that I’ve scored some points and helped us pick up some good results.”
