TIGERS are waiting on a final decision from Elite League champions Swindon and their plans for city rider Simon Stead.
Stead was a hero of the Robins’ triumph last month and added the title to that of the two Premier League successes he enjoyed with Sheffield in 1999 and 2002.
Now club bosses are keen to bring Stead back ‘home’ - a decade after he left Owlerton after a fallout with club owner Neil Machin over terms.
But the move -can only happen if Swindon are not planning to use him.
Stead can ride in both the Elite and Premier Leagues under the double-up rule and he would welcome such an opportunity.
Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart said: Hoggart: “It would be a dream move if we could be back together.”
