Neil Machin says there is serious interest from at least one party in buying Sheffield Tigers.
Fans are anxious as other teams are snapping up riders. But Machin insists he will only sell if the deal is right. “There is serious interest from one party but that’s as far as it goes” said Machin.
“I can’t just let it go for nothing after all these years, I have put my heart and soul into Sheffield Speedway. I can’t be looking to build a team, I have told David Hoggart and Nigel Hinchliffe (team managers) not to do anything on that side of things because the club is on hold.”
He added: “I will do everything I can to ensure the sport continues at Sheffield, but I repeat it will not be with me in charge, Sheffield Speedway will operate in 2014 with new owners only.
“At the moment I am not in a position to confirm for sure that speedway will continue at Owlerton – I would be fooling people if I said it was nailed on.
“But I am working hard to try and reach a suitable conclusion to ensure the tapes go up on the new season in March.”
