Sheffield have agreed a deal with all-action racer Jason Garrity who is in line for his debut against Somerset at Owlerton tomorrow.
Garrity, 21, will double-up with between the Tigers and Elite League Coventry and is in good shape after notching a full maximum for the Bees in their win at Belle Vue on Monday night.
He will cover for David Bellego who has been ruled out for six weeks with a hip injury.
And he says the move is just what he needs to stay sharp after racing in only one league so far this season.
“I’ve been riding in the Elite League and I’ve been a few days behind everyone else because they’ve been riding in the build-up and I haven’t,” he said.
“It’s not the way I want to be. I want to be busy,”
“I feel I am a good rider who is getting better but I need time to dial in at the right places.”
And he says he’s thrilled to be lining up with Sheffield, a club he rates highly.
“I’m just looking to take my chance,” he said. “I’ve been told by the Sheffield management to just get stuck in and score as many points as I can.
“Sheffield is close to home for me as well, it’s only an hour away and when I woke up this morning I had a smile on my face because this move has made me very happy.
“It’s a big track, I’m sure I will need a week or two to get adjusted, but hopefully I can get in the points straight away and score the points.
“My equipment is good, but I will need to find the right set-up and get back onto the track.”
Sheffield have booked Craig Cook as cover for Simon Stead in tomorrow’s clash with Somerset, who are strongly fancied for honours this season.
