SHEFFIELD continue their hunt for Premier League points against Plymouth at Owlerton tonight as they attempt to avoid sinking to the bottom of the table.
The Tigers are four points above bottom club Berwick but have raced four more meetings, which puts them in a precarious position going in to the final stages of the season.
Plymouth, in only their second season in the Premier League, are three points behind Sheffield having raced four less meetings.
The Devils bring a powerful team to Owlerton, and Tigers boss Neil Machin knows his side have their work cut out to win. He said: “Plymouth are built as a top heavy side and with Ben Barker, Ryan Fisher and Cory Gathercole we know that we may well have our work cut out winning races. Those three are as powerful a trio as any in the league.
“Todd Kurtz and Jim Holder will be at home on the wide open spaces of Owlerton coming from Australia, where the tracks are normally a lot larger.
“We’ve got another tough meeting on our hands and one that we need to win if we are to avoid ending the season in the lowest echelons of the league.”
With Pepe Franc and Emiliano Sanchez still missing and permanent replacements hard to come by, Sheffield will once again rely on a guest.
Machin said: “We couldn’t find a suitable guest to wear the number one race jacket and as such we decided to use rider replacement for Josef Franc.
“Michael Palm Toft will cover Emiliano Sanchez’s rides”
SHEFFIELD: Rider Replacement, Skidmore, Palm Toft (G), Hall, Wells, Haines, Schramm.
PLYMOUTH: Barker, Kurtz, Gathercole, Holder, Fisher, Bekker, TBC.
