TIGERS are confident of finalising a new deal with Ricky Wells this week.
And club chief David Hoggart says season tickets will be going on sale shortly after positive talks with Owlerton landlords A&S Leisure over a new rent agreement.
Wells is understood to be on the verge of agreeing terms after weeks of talks between himself, his representative Sam Ermolenko and Hoggart. Hoggart said: “We had a productive weekend and edged closer towards agreement.
“The one thing which has become obvious through all this is that we want Ricky and Ricky wants to be with us but both parties have to be happy with the financial arrangements.”
Meanwhile Hoggart has sung the praises of Sheffield’s landlords after a productive meeting with John Gilburn and colleagues.
He said: “There was a general understanding within the meeting about how tough times are for British Speedway and the challenges we face. They want us at Owlerton and we want to be there, it’s one of the best venues in the sport and we want to make full use of it.
“Naturally the biggest factor is that we want more and more people on the terraces and we need to team to start doing well next season to make that happen. Now we have reached agreement on a new lease for Owlerton we can formulate season ticket details.
“We want to make Speedway the best value night out for sports fans and we have lots of ideas.
“We need to make supporters happy again and give them good reason to keep coming back to Owlerton.”
