NEIL Machin has handed Califonian Ricky Wells a vote of confidence ahead of the new season.

Wells is back at Owlerton for a second year after struggling with the big Sheffield track during the first half of 2012. He will take to the track along with the rest of the side tonight at a public practice session.

Club owner Machin expects Wells to come of age in a big season ahead. He said: “There was no-one more disappointed with Ricky last year than me. He was way below what we expected. He was tremendous for Wolves in the Elite League and that shows his quality.

“What the doubting Thomases have to realise is that Ricky was the youngest member of our team last year. He’s just turned 21. He’s still learning the game and he’s determined make it happen with us this season. I’m certain we will see a major improvement from Ricky and if he can hit the ground running he will prove to be a very important member of the team.”

Fans have the opportunity to mix with riders and management tonight.
