Sheffield Tigers stormed into the Premier League Cup semi-finals with a superb 53-37 victory at Redcar last night.
After squeezing home by two points when the teams met at Owlerton on Thursday, they travelled to the South Tees Motorpark knowing they had to claim all four points. And after turning in a superb performance, the victory put them in pole position in their group and they now await their opponents in the last-four shootout.
Simon Stead and Simon Nielsen shot Tigers into the lead with a 5-1 in the opener. Bears did clamber to within two points after eight heats but when Adam Roynon and Andre Compton bagged another maximum in the ninth, Tigers were on target and successive 5-1s from star man Josh Bates, who had three wins in his 13 points, and Taylor Poole in the last two races made certain of the bonus.
