BRITISH Speedway bosses have confirmed Sheffield will have two representatives at next week’s Premier League Riders’ Championship.
The showpiece event takes place at Owlerton on Sunday, September 25, 5pm. And Tigers will be represented by both Shane Parker and Ricky Ashworth, who won the meeting two years ago. Rye House are the other team with two representatives, Chris Neath and Jordan Frampton.
Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart says it’s a mouthwatering prospect. He said: “The line-up is excellent and whilst so many people will fancy our boys to get into the final and one of them to win it, they are up against some top riders.
“Charlie Gjedde has been in great form for Belle Vue in the Elite League and qualifies for this meeting because he doubles-up with Newport and he will be one to watch. Kevin Doolan is always good for double figures around our track, Joe Screen has been a great addition to the Premier League and Ben Barker, who represents Plymouth, rode for GB in the World Cup during the summer.
“I expect it to be as competitive as ever and I’m sure we will get another big crowd for what is always a superb meeting. I’m looking forward to the carnival atmosphere as fans from throughout the country come to Sheffield.”
