Joe Screen says Simon Stead and Adam Roynon look fit and raring to go for the new season which starts later this month.
The Sheffield boss, who retired after a glittering career at the end of last year, took charge of a training session at Scunthorpe last week.
And both Stead and Roynon, who missed a big chunk of last season through injury, went through their paces with no ill effects.
Former British Champion Screen also enjoyed the experience of coaching the riders and offering the benefit of his years of experience at the top of his game.
“I enjoy helping people out and that will give me that speedway buzz,” he said.
“We had a good session at Scunthorpe last week and everyone looked sharp.
“It was Simon Stead’s first time back on a bike since his injury last year and he looked really quick, while Adam Roynon was also good on his comeback.
“Everyone looked sharp but then again it was only in practice and it’s not hard to look a million dollars, but the initial signs are good.
“It was a great session and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I’m sure Simon and Adam will be fine, they’ve been working hard on their fitness and they’ll be ready for the start no problem.
“I know what it’s like coming back from injury, I’ve been there myself and it can be a bit tense getting back on the bike for the first time after a long time out of the sport.
“But they were fine and I’m also certain the team of riders we have will all get on great, it promises to be a big year for everyone at Sheffield.”
