Sheffield Tigers are sweating on the fitness of three riders ahead of their back-to-back clashes with Redcar this week.
Joe Screen is desperate to see his side climb but he’s not yet sure what team he will track.
Andre Compton, Leigh Lanham and Josh Bates remain big question marks and Screen is urging them only to ride when they feel ready.
Former GP star Screen has admitted youngster Bates came back to the bike too soon for the meeting last month and doesn’t want a repeat.
“Josh is desperate to get back racing again” said Screen “He wanted to be involved at Scunthorpe last week, but we need to make sure he is fully fit. There is still a question mark over Andre who has been for another scan after a big bang to the head the other week and we’re also waiting to see how Leigh’s back is feeling.
“He came back too soon for the TV meeting against Somerset and we can’t let that happen again. But I’d also like to thank all the lads who have stood in as guest riders for us, it’s much appreciated.
“And the supporters have got right behind us, we need them again on Thursday after the disappointment of last week’s rain-off.
“There’s a couple of weeks left on the school holidays so let’s hope we see plenty of youngsters again on Thursday because this is a fabulous family sport. Whatever team we have on track we are confident of doing well - we’ve already had goods results against Redcar this season. Hopefully we can do very much the same this week once we know where we stand with the riders.”
