NEW signing Ricky Wells says he got the move he wanted by signing for Sheffield.
And he’s revealed how he turned down interest from several rival Premier League clubs, including Plymouth where he spent last season.
He will combine his Premier League duties in Tigers colours with a second successive season at Wolverhampton in the Elite League.
Said Wells: “I’m pleased to be joining Sheffield because they are a very professional club. I’m looking forward to riding for them.
“As soon as I knew there was a possibility of moving there I said I wanted to ride for them because it can only improve me.
“To race on such a big track like Sheffield every week will be a massive help to me.
“It’s good for me to combine meetings on the smaller track at Wolverhampton with the big Sheffield track.
“I enjoyed riding the track in October when I represented the Americans there and I came away thinking that I’d like to ride there every week if ever the opportunity came along.
“In fact I’ve thought about it in the past so I guess I’m realising an ambition to race for Sheffield.
“I just can’t wait to get going.”
Wells has been riding well at home in California during the winter and has been winning races regularly.
He said: “It’s nice to win some races and I hope I can get back across to the UK and start winning races from the start of the season.
“I was pleased with the way I ended last season and hopefully I can pick it up straight away in 2012.”
