Ricky is fit and raring to go for Tigers

RICKY Ashworth has handed Sheffield a boost by declaring himself fit to race in Thursday's Premier League clash with Rye House at Owlerton (7.45).

Ashworth was forced to sit out last week's home win over Glasgow after he was left bruised by a crash when racing for Elite League club Belle Vue. But he's benefitted from a week off and he'll be back for Tigers who will face a new-look Rye House team including Sheffield specialists Kevin Doolan and Robbie Kessler.

Said Ashworth: "I'm feeling so much better now and I'll be fine for Thursday. I hate missing meetings and I'm raring to go for Thursday, I was gutted when I had to miss last week but I did the right thing.

"If I had tried to race last Thursday it could have made things a lot worse for me so thankfully the week off has done me some good and I'll be raring to go."

Rye House have booked Doolan as a guest replacement for the unavailable Linus Sundstrum and Tigers asset Kessler has joined the Rockets as a replacement for the injured Luke Bowen.

Kessler will be at reserve which presents a tough test on debut for new Sheffield signing Simon Lambert. Ashworth admits it's always tough to make changes. mHe said: "I feel sorry for Arlo (Bugeja) first and foremost because he's a good lad who always gives it his best efforts.

"But we welcome Simon to the club and I'm looking forward to working with him. Obviously he's been through a tough time at Scunthorpe and I'm sure the move will do him good."
