'Rambo' to ride again for Tigers

HUGELY popular Simon Lambert has agreed a new deal to stay with Sheffield.

'Rambo' was a big hit with Owlerton supporters after joining the club mid-season when he lost his place at Scunthorpe.

And when he was offered the chance to return after his parent club King's Lynn made the jump into the Elite League on Monday, he quickly agreed terms.

He said: "I'm very pleased to be staying with Sheffield.

"They took me on towards the end of last season when I lost my place at Scunthorpe and I settled into the team well.

"They had the confidence in me to take me on and I think I proved to everyone what I am capable of.

"From the age of 15 my career had only gone one way each year and that was up - so it was a big body blow to be struggling and watch my career nosedive last year until Neil Machin rang me up and offered me a lifeline!

"I have never felt so bad and been so frustrated.

"I spent loads of money trying to change set-up and things on the bike but nothing seemed to work.

"I seem to have got to grips with the track well and will hopefully get some good scores in next year.

"I hope to have a full season with the Tigers in 2011.

"I would love a chance at the Elite League as well, as my form at the end of last year showed I could beat pretty much anyone at Premier League level and I was gating like a rocket so all Elite clubs come and get me give me the chance I want and need to help further my career.

"I've got a good engine set-up now and am full of confidence to do well.

"I want to start the season how I finished at the end of 2010.

"I hope to increase my average by at least two-points.

"The Sheffield fans are fantastic and hope that they get behind me."

And Lambert has launched a sponsorship campaign to try and ensure his racing equipment is as competitive as possible.

He said: "I am looking for sponsorship for 2011.

"I have lost my main sponsor for next year and am looking to help replace it.

"If any company or even a group of fans together can chip in together they can advertise their name on my bikes, van or race suit etc.

"Please contact me via my website, www.simonlambertracing.co.uk."
