Race ace revved up for meeting

POPULAR Pole Seb Ulamek is the latest big name to be added to Sheffield's opening meeting of the season on March 15.

Ulamek, an Elite League title winner with Coventry in 2005, missed all of last season in the UK to concentrate on his domestic form in his home country.

He's still keen to race in the UK and is always popular wherever he races. His last British club was Swindon and he will now appear in the Ozchem Classic at Owlerton in just over a fortnight.

Earlier in his career he was widely regarded as a potential world champion and his talent was spotted by Tony Rickardsson, the six-times world number one who signed him up for his own stable.

But it was a relationship which broke down and his career at the top level has failed to live up to the early promise.

Now he will line-up alongside former world champions Jason Crump and Greg Hancock in a Rest of the World side to face a British Select squad.

Said Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart: "Seb will be a hugely popular addition to the line-up and we're looking forward to having him in the meeting.

"He's got a great racing style and we feel he will be very fast on the vast spaces of the Owlerton track. He has fast machinery and he will be tough to beat."

The meeting is creating plenty of interest with only one corporate box remaining and packed terraces expected.

RichardHall, back at Owlerton after spells on loan to Peterborough and Scunthorpe, will race in the Speedway Riders' Benevolent Fund meeting at Sheffield on March 29.

He's completed the line-up alongside former Coventry man Filip Sitera who has failed to secure a British spot this season.
