Proud Tigers leader vows to give his all

RICKY Ashworth has assured the Tigers supporters that he will be giving his all in every match this year.

Ashworth has linked up with Belle Vue in the Elite League and will be riding for the Aces on a part-time basis as and when his Sheffield fixtures allow.

The Tigers captain is poised to ride against Belle Vue in the opening meeting of the season on Thursday, March 18.

But Ashworth insists the Tigers are his top priority and that he is focused on racing for the Owlerton side.

He said: "Sheffield are my parent club and the fact that I've got some meetings with Belle Vue doesn't change anything as far as I am concerned.

"I'm proud to be skipper of Sheffield and I think we have a great team.

"Me riding for Belle Vue is no different to other riders who race in the Swedish League for a team on a Tuesday and Polish League on Sundays.

"I'm just riding for Sheffield and Belle Vue and I don't even have to catch a flight!

"I will be giving my total effort in every meeting, whether it be for Sheffield or Belle Vue. I think the Belle Vue thing will benefit me and give me more enthusiasm rather than having the opposite effect.

"Everyone knows I've fancied a pop at the Elite League again and this is my opportunity to show that I can mix it with the big boys.

"I've already gone on record to say it's a massive season for me and I intend to make the most of it.

"Looking at the teams I feel I can be successful with both Sheffield and Belle Vue - my priority is to reach the play-offs in both leagues!"
