SHEFFIELD owner Neil Machin believes his side now have one of the most powerful reserve partnerships in the league - and hopes to see the duo firing against Rye House at Owlerton tonight (7.45pm).
Tigers are at full strength for the Premier League clash as new signing Chris Schramm makes his debut, and that move sees Argentinian champion Emiliano Sanchez drop to reserve alongside Joe Haines. Sanchez, a proven Premier League points scorer, has had a mixed start to the season but more than held his own at the difficult number five position.
Machin believes a move to reserve will benefit the team; “The team we have in place now is solid and I believe we now have the powerhouse reserve pairing that we hoped we’d have at the start of the year.
“Obviously we have had to run with guests with Klaus’ injury but now we have two excellent riders at reserve who can score some big points.
“Joe gained a lot of confidence from winning the British U21 title and Emiliano has been winning races in the main team, so they look a potent partnership for us.”
The Tigers owner is also feeling more upbeat about the summer ahead after a tough start to the year with several weather postponements.
He said: “There is a real good feeling about the place now. Owlerton is a vibrant place to be.
“The weather affected everyone but now we are looking ahead to a busy summer of excellent racing and there is a feel good factor at Sheffield at the moment.”
