Tigers will have two of their own riders in Thursday’s Great Britain side against Australia at Owlerton (7.45).
Adam Roynon and Joe Haines have been named for the meeting. It’s a feather in the cap for both riders who have both battled back from serious injury to salvage their careers.
Sheffield co-promoter David Hoggart is delighted to see local interest in the GB side against an outfit expected to include Dakota North, who was part of their World Cup squad last week.
He said: “I’m expecting a really competitive night of racing. Adam has been a delight to deal with since he joined us and I’m sure he will enjoy this meeting in front of the Sheffield public.
“And Joe is determined to come back after a training accident. It’s so ironic he felt he needed to work on his fitness to give him that extra edge and he got hurt.
“We are also pleased to welcome back our former riders Ricky Ashworth and Josh Auty and Richard Lawson has been a star for us whenever we’ve called in him as a guest.”
Somerset youngster Kyle Newman has also been named in the British side at reserve alongside Haines.
GB LINE-UP: Lewis Bridger (Lakeside), Ricky Ashworth (Berwick), Josh Auty (Scunthorpe/Birmingham), Adam Roynon (Sheffield/Coventry), Richard Lawson (Workington/Lakeside), Joe Haines (Sheffield), Kyle Newman (Somerset).
