Morton looks forward to Tigers return

CHRIS Morton will roll back the years when he brings his Belle Vue Aces side to Sheffield on March 18.

Morton, a former England international, ended his glittering career in Tigers colours 17-years ago and he admits Owlerton is one of his favourite tracks in the world.

A bumper crowd is expected for the season opener which has been labelled 'War of the Roses' by both Tigers and the Manchester club.

Morton said: "It is going to be a terrific night and the Sheffield track is one I always enjoy coming to.

"I loved my time there and it's the type of track I always enjoyed racing at because you could open up the throttle in a big way.

"It will be nice to come back as a team manager but I'd like to put one over Sheffield and get us off to a winning start."

Aces will be without Danish Grand Prix star Hans Andersen but they will still pose a strong Elite League threat with Swede Peter Karlsson - a top flight champion with Wolves last year - alongside Danish duo Charlie Gjedde and Patrik Hougaard and talented British youngster James Wright.

Sheffield stage their press and practice session next Thursday, March 11, with track action starting at 4.30pm.
