Match of the season!

SHEFFIELD owner Neil Machin believes tonight's Premier League clash with King's Lynn could be the match of the season at Owlerton (7.45).

And he's relishing the prospect of seeing his new Australian discovery Hugh Skidmore up against fellow countryman Darcy Ward, the new sensation of the Premier League.

Ward, 16, has taken the league by storm and has already attracted interest from several Elite League promoters keen to snap him up.

Skidmore, meanwhile, has made an encouraging start to life in British racing after being kept under wraps by Machin since travelling over earlier this year.

He won a race at Berwick on Saturday in the 45-45 Premier Trophy draw after scoring 7+1 on his debut against Newcastle.

Said Machin: "It was good to see Hugh get his first away victory, which will give him more confidence and it will be interesting to see how he goes against Darcy Ward tonight.

"They know each other from Australia and Hugh actually beat him in the Aussie under-21 competition last year, so that should add a bit more spice to the meeting, although Darcy has been on fire this season while Hugh has only just started his Premier League career.

"This has the makings of a terrific meeting. King's Lynn are once again up there as one of the top teams in the league but we'll be up for the challenge.

"They also have the new Great Britain manager in Rob Lyon still in charge of their team and it will be a tough night for us.

"But I reckon this could be the match of the season for us, I would urge all our fans to turn out in force and get behind the boys."

Former Sheffield favourite Emiliano Sanchez, still a club asset on loan to the Norfolk club, returns to Owlerton and Tomas Topinka has been a top performer in the Premier League for 15-years.

But all eyes will be on Ward, who is tipped to become a Grand Prix superstar within the next three seasons.

Tigers are unchanged from the team which pulled off the impressive draw at Berwick.

SHEFFIELD: Ashworth, Skidmore, Mills, Hall, Auty, Cooper, Parsons.

KING'S LYNN: Ward, Eklof, Sanchez, Schramm, Topinka, Mallett, Graversen.
