Lambert is ready for his Tigers debut
NEW Tigers signing Simon Lambert is raring to go for his debut against Rye House at Owlerton tonight (7.45).
Lambert was confirmed as a Sheffield rider on Monday after losing his team place at Scunthorpe and replaces Arlo Bugeja at reserve.
He said: "I nearly signed for Sheffield in 2007, then I nearly signed for them in 2008, and then again in 2009, so it's always been a 'nearly' move for me. People have put a stop to it, or other things have happened, or I've gone elsewhere, and it's probably a move that should have happened last year.
"I like the track there and there are very positive things to come out of it. They're very professional and, no disrespect to Scunthorpe, but being used to King's Lynn like I was and then going to Scunthorpe, it was a bit of an eye opener, so going to Sheffield will be just like it was at King's Lynn. The whole set-up makes you feel better, it's a lot more professional and that's how it should be."
Rye House have snapped up Sheffield asset Robbie Kessler who starts at reserve and he is sure to be a threat as he can take seven rides. Kessler is an Owlerton track specialist who has never ruled out returning to the club.
And Kevin Doolan, one of the Premier League's top performers, replaces Linus Sundstrom in the number one position for the Rockets. Doolan has been up there with the leading riders in the averages consistently in recent seasons and steps in as a guest to make Sheffield's task tough.
