KLAUS Jakobson has completed his marathon journey from Denmark back to the UK to launch his Sheffield career today.

The former Stoke man, who admits he is facing a make-or-break season with the club, has switched to Owlerton from Loomer Road on a full contract.

He left his home country on Monday for the 24-hour ferry crossing with his machinery and will be based near Wolverhampton for the 2012 season.

He said: “I’m so pleased to have this opportunity with Sheffield and I genuinely feel I am up to the challenge. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the Sheffield management for handing me this opportunity and I have to use it to spark my career and give it a major lift.

“It will be nice to ride for a club which is so well run and professional, it will be a big help to me and I know the management will support me.

“I’m looking forward to getting some time in on the track and meeting up with my new team mates.”

The 2012 Tigers team will be in action for the first time today at their press and practice session. They are expected to start at 4.30pm. The public are welcome to attend. There will be a social event in the Panorama Room tonight.
