Nico Covatti has praised Sheffield for rescuing his British career after the closure of Birmingham.
Covatti has made a big impression with Tigers fans, and he is hoping to continue his fine form when they face Berwick at Owlerton tomorrow in their penultimate home league meeting of the season. Covatti helped Birmingham finish top of the Elite League last season and returned to the club in April - only to see them hit financial trouble and fold in July.
Said Covatti: “After Birmingham closed it was very hard for me to stay here in England but now, living close to Owlerton in Chesterfield, it’s better for me.
“I would like to be at Sheffield next year because I love it. I want to end the season strongly, then go back to Argentina and come back stronger next season.”
Tigers are hoping inspirational skipper Simon Stead will be fit to race.
They face a busy spell as they also ride a double header at Workington on Saturday with both visits to Cumbria crammed into one night because of rain earlier in the season.
