I can boost Tigers tally

SIMON Lambert says he can be Sheffield's secret weapon next season.

The Lincolnshire-based reserve is back for his first full season at Owlerton after joining the club from Scunthorpe mid-way through last year.

And he believes he can add a couple of points to his average to bolster Sheffield's chances of success.

"I'm just about ready to go this year," he said. "I've got my engines to come from Glyn Taylor and a few other bits and bobs and then I'll be sorted. I can't wait for it to start.

"Last season probably ended a bit too early for me because I was just beginning to go well.

"I got the call from Scunny about 20 to 11 one night and then got the call from Neil Machin at 11 and we did a deal. It was spot on for me.

"I don't know what the problem was at Scunthorpe, I still can't put my finger on it, but it started to come right for me after moving to Sheffield.

" I got a few guest bookings as well and did well, which didn't count on my average, so I suppose I was a steal for someone this year.

"The plan is to put a point-and-a-half to two points on my average.

That would be nice.

"I just want to get going, start well and take it from there.

"But I've just got to enjoy it. I wasn't enjoying my racing at all last year until I went to Sheffield and then the end of the season came around pretty quickly.

"It was a shame because it felt like it had only just begun.

"The team looks good. Hopefully we'll all fire from the start but we do have a good, solid side. There are some strong teams in the league, but I think we'll be in with a chance."
