Hoggart backs Tigers to kick start their league form at bogey track

STAND-IN Sheffield boss David Hoggart insists his side will have a positive attitude when they go to bogey track Edinburgh tonight (7.30).

Tigers make the trip north following the disappointment of last night's washout against King's Lynn at Owlerton.

And Hoggart, deputising for the unavailable Eric Boocock, says Tigers have nothing to fear and added: "Armadale is a unique track and the home side have a good advantage. But we have riders who can get around there and we will be going for at least a point.

"All the boys are raring to go after the rain-off against King's Lynn. We'd got them fired up for that one and they'll be keen to take it out on Edinburgh."

Sheffield made a poor start to their league campaign at King's Lynn last week – but Hoggart says that's been consigned to the record books.

"We can't afford to dwell on things like that," he said. "We all know it was a poor performance but King's Lynn is a tough place to go and we have to learn from our mistakes.

"It's up to us to put it right at Edinburgh and I know our skipper Paul Cooper will be having a word with the lads before the meeting."

And Hoggart believes the experience of Josef Franc on the Armadale track could prove invaluable.

"He's done a lot of laps around there during his career," he said. "If he can get a double figure score for us at Edinburgh we will be in with a great chance. The boys know their jobs and if they do that then we can get a result."

The next action at Owlerton is the British Semi-Final on Thursday, May 6 – including Elite Leaguers Scott Nicholls and Tai Woffinden.
