Hoggart is Sheffield's new power broker
DAVID Hoggart has been put in charge of British Speedway's major series of events.
And that means both Sheffield promoters are now in prominent positions within the sport's corridors of power.
Hoggart has been unveiled as the new Super 7even series co-ordinator and colleague Neil Machin will again sit on the sport's management committee.
It's a massive honour for both Hoggart and the club in general and underlines the progress the Wakefield-based businessman has made within the sport over the last four seasons.
His professional approach has impressed the sport's top brass within the British Speedway Promoters' Association and he will now oversee the major event series to ensure the smooth running of events up and down the country.
"I'm a huge fan of these events," he said. "The Promoters' Association have taken on board feedback from the fans concerning the location of some of the events and are looking forward to bumper turnouts.
"With no seeded places, qualification from two semi finals and a place in the British Grand Prix at Cardiff, this year's British Final at Wolverhanpton will be a cracker.
"My personal favourite is the Premier League Four Team Tournament, I was the team sponsor at Long Eaton and Sheffield, when they both won it on separate occasions, so Peterborough holds the fondest of memories and I really do expect Premier League fans to make this the event of the year."
One of the Super 7even events, the Premier League Riders' Championship, will be held at Owlerton in September.
