EMILIANO Sanchez is facing a race against time to be fit for Sheffield’s trip to Newport on Saturday.
The Argentinian ace crashed twice during Tigers’ cup tie at Edinburgh last Friday and has suffered more rib damage.
He was ruled out of the early stages of the season with similar injuries but the club hope a week of rest will see him return for the trip.
Tigers co-promoter David Hoggart said: “It was a rough night for all the riders at Edinburgh because the track was very unpredictable and we had several fallers.
“But it was particularly uncomfortable for Emiliano and we can only hope a week’s rest will help him get back in the saddle quickly.
“He’s an integral member of our team, particularly away from home, and we need him to be scoring points, but only if he is fit.”
Meanwhile Tigers favourites Josh Auty, Ricky Ashworth and Paul Cooper are all in action at this Thursday’s British Semi-Final on home shale.
The meeting features Grand Prix star Chris Harris and former GP regular Scott Nicholls. The top seven go through to the British Final at Wolverhampton on June 6. Other qualifiers will come from Scunthorpe on Friday and two wildcard entries.
