SHEFFIELD Tigers are throwing their doors open free of charge for tomorrow’s public team practice session.
And the Owlerton club are urging people in the area to pop in and sample the roar of speedway machines for the first time.
Club owner Neil Machin says it’s a good opportunity for people finishing work to pop in and see the sport at first hand.
He said: “Speedway has a big TV audience in this country but we want to see more people on the terraces.
“Our practice session is open to the public and the full team will be put through their paces - they’ll be on their own and then racing against each other in a structured way.
“The stadium gates will be open and we anticipate the lads will take to the track at about 5.30pm so it’s a perfect chance for people to pop in on their way home from work, take in the high-speed action and perhaps enjoy a drink.
“We have booked live music for the Panorama Room afterwards from about 8pm and we hope it will develop into a good social evening.
“It’s a good opportunity for the lads to get together and get some valuable time in on their home track before our first home meeting next Thursday against Elite League side Birmingham.
“Practice night also gives our existing fans the chance to come down and see our new signings and I know lots of supporters are desperate to see Simon Stead back on our track.
“Simon is buzzing about being back at Sheffield and we can’t wait to get the season going. The new lads are really up for this season and there is a real feel good factor about the place so we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible to practice night.”
