Sheffield hero Simon Stead will go in pursuit of glory as the club host the Premier League Riders’ Championship tomorrow (5pm).
A top class field will arrive at Owlerton for the prestigious event, with Tigers’ favourite Stead amongst the favourites on home soil.
The Sheffield skipper has been in scintillating form throughout 2014 having made a hugely successful return from the broken leg which ruined his 2013 campaign.
He has racked up over 150 points on home soil alone following some dominant displays around the fast, sweeping circuit.
With a blockbuster day of action expected, Stead is desperate to overcome a stern test to give his adoring home crowd a home winner.
Said Stead: “The PLRC is obviously a massive meeting, so I’m really looking forward to it. It’s obviously great for me that it’s held at Owlerton, and it would be brilliant if I could come away with the win in front of the Sheffield fans.
“I know the track and I’ve been riding well so I’m confident I can do well, but anything can happen in those sorts of meetings.
“It’s a really strong line-up so I know it’s going to be very tough, but I’ll give it my best shot and hopefully things go well for me on the day.”
The Tigers, meanwhile, lost 59-37 to Plymouth at the St Boniface Arena last night. Todd Kurtz led the way with 12 points, and Stead added 11.
