Sheffield Tigers have called a team practice for tomorrow - after one home match in six weeks.
Joe Screen’s men will meet just a day before the tough Premier League clash with Workington at Owlerton.
The club have suffered four rained-off meetings already this season and are desperate for some track time ahead of the visit of the Cumbrian side.
Co-promoter Damian Bates said: “We need the lads ready and sharp for Thursday because we know what a tough team Workington are.
“Some of the lads have had mechanical issues and we want to ensure we are as well prepared as we possibly can be.
“And some of the lads also have new engines they need to test out. We want a good day in proper racing conditions so they can iron out any problems.
“We need each and every rider up to speed for Thursday. To lose at home to Scunthorpe like we did a fortnight ago was a massive blow to us and we know we cannot afford to drop too many more points at home this season.”
Bates also says the session will help new signing Ty Proctor: “It’s been a nightmare start for Ty with the weather and we just haven’t been able to see the best of him,” he said.
“I’m hopeful a day like tomorrow will benefit him and when Ty is up to speed he will prove what a good signing he is.
“It’s a big meeting on Thursday and I’m sure we will see a big crowd because Workington are one of the stronger teams in this league.”
